This enchanting spot in Cornwall is steeped in a rich history of passion and protection. The legend of Mother Ivey, a benevolent white witch, has been passed down through the centuries. She selflessly used her powers to aid fishermen, farmers, and those in need in 16th-century Padstow.

The story goes that Mother Ivey's kindness was met with cruelty by a greedy fish merchant, who refused to share his pilchards with the starving locals. Heartbroken and enraged, Mother Ivey cursed the land, warning that death would follow if its soil was ever broken. This curse held true until 1997, when a vicar finally lifted it.

Today, Mother Ivey's Bay is a haven of tranquility, home to the RNLI lifeboat station and teeming with marine life. My painting, 'Mother's Love', captures the essence of this resilient and breathtaking landscape.
